The NSW Bar Association is committed to promoting excellence in advocacy among its members.
The Association is pleased to advise that it will be offering a General Skills Workshop to members.
The initiative aims to give junior barristers the opportunity to hone their in-court advocacy and enhance their ability to deliver personalised and highly-effective argument.
The workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to practice their advocacy skills under the supportive guidance of expert instructors, including judges and experienced advocates.
This will be a practical workshop in which all participants are expected to actively contribute and perform. Using the specifically developed case study provided, participants will be given various tasks to perform, including an opening address, examination-in-chief, cross-examination and a closing address. Barristers will also benefit from observing the other participants’ and hearing their performance reviews.
This workshop is offered in conjunction with the Australian Advocacy Institute.
